cirqu’ shows a wide range of what is possible today on stage, in a tent, in a museum or outdoors. For ten days, the festival transforms every location and thus the entire city of Aarau into a stage with a magical attraction: there is something for everyone!
Productions for which you would otherwise have to travel to the big cities stand alongside scenic gems, experimental formats alongside entertainment for the whole family, school performances alongside late-night music, plays that address socio-political and current issues are on the program alongside impressive artistry, young artists try their hand.

The entire Festival 2025 is once again supported by Kultur macht Schule. Most of the performances take place in the evening. However, school performances and individual programs can also be shown in the afternoon or, if required, in the morning as an extra performance. Many of the plays are suitable for children and young people aged 6 to 18. You will find the detailed program on our website from 2 April 2025.

At every festival we need some volunteers who support us. in the set-up of tents or other structures, in little promotional activities, for crowd control and many other things.
In return, we offer insights into an international circus festival, free tickets, a T-shirt, food and many encounters.
The next festival is already in the planning stage. From June 12 to 22, 2025, we will be celebrating 10 years of cirqu'. It's always useful to know a little extra information. Always be the first to know about promotions, ticket launches and other important information.
Contemporary circus took place in Aarau for 10 days from June 15 to 25. Seven productions were shown in the Alte Reithalle again this year - meaning that «cirqu’» 2023 returned to its original location.
