What began in 2012 with a circus guest performance in the Alte Reithalle Aarau became a full-blown and extremely diverse festival of contemporary circus arts in 2017.
There are flying logs and plastic bags, an evil clown, an errant dancer, crazy jugglers and much more.
In «Pour le meilleur et pour le pire», Cirque Aïtal revived old circus traditions - including the tent - and appealed to young and old alike. With «ANECKXANDER», Alexander Vantournhout presented a performance that no longer had anything to do with what we were used to seeing in the circus ring; whether this is still “circus” was a matter of debate - for us, it is contemporary circus.
Ten companies from France, Belgium, Scotland, Ireland and Switzerland made the Alte Reithalle, the Theater Tuchlaube, the Stadtmuseum, the Bahnhofplatz and the Kasernenareal the venue for their activities. Some performances thrilled a wide audience, while others explored the boundaries of what contemporary circus means today.
