A man drinks tea on stage which is not as easy as one would think. Numerous complications arise. The ceremony requires extensive preparation and generates unexpected twists, detours and digressions. The milk is still in the cow, sugar catapults through the air and the tea is suddenly cold. Making tea seems to require the highest levels of concentration and planning.
The master of ceremonies interprets his farcical ritual with an accuracy that rapidly leads to excesses. His mindfulness turns into pure freedom of meaning but his self-centeredness leads him to confusion in the end. And suddenly, it all gets a little uncanny.
Etienne Manceaus’ extremely entertaining shenanigans leaves one a little confused.
