Trilokia

Jani Nuutinen is a Finnish artist who has been living in France for many years. As a skilled juggler and magician, he works creatively with objects, their movements, and the interplay of shadows, crafting captivating illusions and magical effects. He also designs and builds his own performance spaces, including complete circus tent structures. «Trilokia» is more than just a trilogy of performances. It is a deep dive into a distant world-a journey through different stations and multiple destinations. It's an experience that transforms you, leaving you changed as you return to everyday life.

ieau sounds like a combination of the French word for water (EAU) and the Italian word for I (IO)—at the same time representing both a line and a circle. The piece begins enveloped in darkness and celestial soundscapes composed by Cosmic Neman (of the band Zombie Zombie), who composed the music for all three parts of the trilogy. Carrying a glass container, an iron ring, and a long tool, Jani Nuutinen enters the stage area, illuminated only by the glow of a small bulb. Like an alchemist, he experiments with materials and elements. At the heart of it all is water (EAU), the source of all life.

ferfeu unites iron (FER) and fire (FEU) in an iron tent constructed by the artist himself. At the center of a circular stage stands an anvil, the age-old symbol of the blacksmith, revered across cultures for his mystical powers. Jani Nuutinen embraces a challenge to dance—delivering a mesmerizingly intense performance and a spark filled spectacle.

harbre A large, stripped tree trunk points towards the sky, pieces of dead wood, held together by massive bolts. At some point, Jani Nuutinen drops his axe and begins to climb, slowly, higher and higher, until he reaches dizzying heights. The tree (ARBRE) symbolizes the four elements of alchemy, and thus life itself: water, air, earth, and fire. Where are we from and where are we going? Where is there a haven (HAVRE)?

At the Festival cirqu' in 2016, Jani Nuutinen appeared as a guest with his pieces «Un cirque plus juste» and «Une séance peu ordinaire».
